January 2017, the beginning of a new year when I decided to leave my job to come up Palermo as an EVS volunteer within MPV project has become a very special decision for me.
I come from Vietnam, a small South Asian country and really far from Italy, with much admiration for this beautiful country, I’m really happy to have 6 months to live and work here, especially in this city. They talked about Palermo as a place of special cultures, food is delicious and the people are very friendly, and I think they are right.
I have met and worked with a lot of international volunteers, young people full of enthusiasm and energy, I received absolute support from my host organization is CESIE, openness and friendliness of people around that help my first month has passed quickly.
Really glad I now have more knowledge in daily work with children, disabled people or homeless people, have many new friends I was able to speak short sentences in Italian and feel closer to my new city. More important than all that I enjoyed to do the things that I am doing now and it bring happiness to people around me.
I’m very excited for the next experience in the next 5 months and hopefully this will be one of the most memorable experiences of me.
